A Third Age University (UTI or U3A) is a social and cultural answer, well developed in terms of equipments whose aims are to create, to develop and to organize cultural activities regularly, providing non-formal education, leisure activities and social gatherings and events for people over 50 years old.
The RUTIS objectives are:
a) To develop activities for the UTI, its students, teachers and managers.
b) To raise funds and find sponsors to support the UTI.
c) To promote volunteering among seniors and for the seniors.
d) To increase the active aging.
e) To develop didactic resources for senior education.
To reach these objectives RUTIS do:
a) Build and maintain a website, regularly up-to-date with the attached RUTIS and UTI activities.
b) Organize international, national and regional UTI meetings.
c) Organize activities like National Quiz Show, a festival of senior theatre, a festival of the musical groups and edit a newspaper free and.
d) Keep up a data base of the UTI and their activities.
e) Promote the UTI managers and teachers training.
f) Develop training courses related to planning for retirement and active aging.
RUTIS had a virtual senior university and was a partner in several Grundtvig projects.
